Only made in the absolute best vintages, this 2013 Millésime is 80% Chardonnay and 20% Pinot Meunier, sourced from the estate’s old vines, and aged on lees for a minimum of four years. Not only is this wine absolutely delightful to drink, but it is a much more interesting Champagne than most; diverse enough to pair with a range of cuisines from seared scallops right through to a tarte tartin.
The Chardonnay notes bring to light the powerful lemon citrus, white flowers, and butterscotch you’d expect, but the Pinot Meunier adds a completely new dimension, bringing plush black cherries, blackberry, and a forest floor note, that is not so common in this style of Champagne. The finish is powerful, elegant, and flinty, and in no way shows it’s almost ten years of age.
