Passionate about the quality of his wine, winegrower Luc Schweitzer’s ambition has contributed to the impressive expansion of Château over the last two decades. With Luc’s vision, the vineyards have transformed and the quality has only increased, with plantings from 20 hectares to now over 75. The plots he acquired are in and around the commune of Berson, extracting the best potential of the Bordeaux appellation, and more importantly, of merlot. On the strength of these various acquisitions, in 2000 he inaugurated cuvée No.1 from the best fruit available.
With a splash of cabernet and malbec in a blend dominated by merlot, you will find a deep ruby colour, lots of ripe red and black fruits, tobacco and sweet spices. The balance here is well executed, possessing a wonderful purity and structure, and just starting to drink well now, but with a long life ahead. Truly impressive.
