It is only in years with grapes of exceptional quality that a limited number of bottles of Mayor de Ondarre Rioja Reserva are produced. From two plots of old vines, the grapes are handpicked into small crates and then sorted to ensure only the best quality fruit makes the blend.
The winemaking is iconic Rioja with a twist: 19 months in oak casks, the majority of those being French instead of the classic American in order to preserve maximum fruit concentration. A further couple of years in bottle have resulted in the complete and luscious wine we bring you today. This wines might make you feel somewhat wild and dangerous, with lush, complex dark fruit abound. The long palate is entwined with smokey, spicy characteristics, giving way to the undeniable quality of Rioja terroir and fruit. Something about it is like eating a michelin star meal in your trackies- instantly comfortable yet luxurious.
